11 janvier, 2011Workers at the South Korean company, Yura Corporation Rus LLC, in Ivangorod, Russia formed a primary organization of the IMF affiliate Russian Interregional Trade Union of Autoworkers (ITUA).

9 février, 2011In response to pressure from Jura Corp Russia, ITUA activists held a picket and called for solidarity. The management received numerous faxes from unions and other organizations including the IMF. The company was warned by the District Attorney. As a result, Jura announced it was ready to engage in talks with the union.

8 février, 2011UGT and CC.OO signed a social and economic tripartite agreement with the Spanish Government and employers' organizations CEOE-CEPYME. Thanks to the unions' efforts the Government revised its original approach based on EU imposed drastic adjustments plans foreseeing revision among others of the existing system of pensions and collective bargaining.

The struggle for direct employment and the regularization of in-house subcontracted workers will continue, but this agreement represents an important victory for the workers.

2 février, 201150,000 people marched in the streets of Mexico City on January 31 demanding economic and political changes that better protect the rights and needs of Mexican people. The struggle for workers' rights in Mexico will continue with Global Days of Action from February 14 to 19.

1 février, 2011The Mumbai Port Trust Dock and General Employees Union (MPTDGEU) release a new film "Into the Graveyard". The 20 minute documentary on shipbreaking has been submitted to the EMF "Unions in Motion" film festival in Germany in June this year.
