Iranian steelworkers face retaliation for demanding decent working conditions16 December, 2024Four workers at the National Iranian Steel Company (NISC) in Ahvaz have been dismissed following a year-long struggle for fair wages, decent working conditions and proper implementation of a job classification scheme. The dismissals come after a series of industrial actions that began a year ago, involving around 3,000 workers.
Bangladesh: nine per cent annual increment not enough16 December, 2024Bangladesh’s labour and employment advisor announced last week that ready-made garment (RMG) workers will receive an additional four per cent pay increase from December 2024, pending a new minimum wage. Trabajadores metalúrgicos surcoreanos organizan una huelga nacional para defender la democracia6 December, 2024Las fábricas del sector metalúrgico de Corea del Sur se paralizaron hoy cuando decenas de miles de trabajadores respondieron a una convocatoria de huelga general de dos horas del Sindicato de Trabajadores Metalúrgicos de Corea (KMWU), afiliado a IndustriALL. Las huelgas se producen tras una reunión de emergencia del Comité Ejecutivo Central del sindicato, en la que se instó a los afiliados a hacer huelga durante al menos dos horas por turno los días 5 y 6 de diciembre para exigir la dimisión del presidente Yoon Suk Yeol.
